Who I Am and What I Do
So who am I?
I’m a mum, to a very energetic 7-year-old boy. I’m a Mountain biker. I’m a swim teacher, an ex-fitness instructor and a level 4 Sports massage therapist. We’ve just moved to the Bristol/South Gloucester area to be closer to family and quality riding.
My journey into the world of massage began with studying Sports and Business, at university, and entering the sports industry. I worked my way up through the ranks, learning many different skills on the way, into the management teams of local authority leisure centres. While this was rewarding, in its own way, I realised that I’d moved away from what I loved; working with people to achieve great things. The decision was made, I wanted to retrain and qualify in Sports Massage Therapy (SMT); to get back to working with people. My SMT training, ASA swimming instruction skills, personal training experience and passion for outdoor sports all complement and support each other.
I have always had a huge passion for outdoor sports. It’s almost impossible to pursue a life of activity without picking up niggles/injuries occasionally, but with help (from clubs, therapists etc) I’m very proud to have trained for, and completed, a couple of marathons. One of my proudest achievements was competing in the Tromsø Skyrace, in 2019. I also, love rock climbing and have had the opportunity to climb in climbing meccas such as Font, and Kalymnos, but one of my favourites has to be Meteora. I have paddle-boarded, kitesurfed and sailed. I have completed a few sportives and more recently some MTB Enduro events. The latest challenge has been an entry into BMX!
I also love to learn and since completing my first Level 3 Sports Massage course, I have completed my Level 4 course, Rocktapes FMT Level 1 course, hot stones, IASTM Rockblades, Manual Lymphatic Drainage and Dry cupping . . hopefully I will start my Level 5 course shortly. In the meantime, I can't wait to get hands-on!
